- Details
The terms of reference for the HSE enquiry into the death of Savita Halappanavar at Galway University Hospital are expected to be finalised today.
The death of the Indian-born dentist at the Galway hospital last month has been the subject of national and international attention over the past week, with a number of vigils being held around the country over the weekend.
The inquiry team is expected to be chaired by an outside expert in obstetrics and gynaecology, and will be asked to report within about 3 months.
Up to 1,000 people took part in a candle-lit vigil in Galway over the weekend, while members of the Indian community in Galway held a separate ceremony outside University Hospital Galway, where they lay white roses under a photograph of Savita.
