The HSE says it's in the process of appointing an independent expert to oversee the work of its inquiry into the death of Savita Halappanavar in Galway last month.
The 31-year-old dentist, who worked in Westport, died after contracting septicaemia during a miscarriage at University Hospital Galway.
It's reported she was repeatedly refused a medical termination.
The HSE's says it's strengthening the National Incident Management Team being put together - by putting an outside expert in obstetrics and gynaecology in charge.
The review team - and it's terms of reference - are expected to be announced later.
