Gardai Advise the Elderly To Be Extra Cautious Should Strangers Arrive at their Doors

An elderly brother and sister have been robbed for the second time this year at their home in Carraroe, Co Galway.

The pair were targeted last January when raiders took a substantial amount of money.

They were again robbed last week when a raider entered their house while they were distracted by an accomplice at the front door.

Gardai said neither of the victims, aged in their 70s and 80s, were harmed, but urged elderly people to be extra-cautious of strange visitors to their homes.

A window was damaged during the incident and some personal items and an amount of cash was taken.

It is believed that two males were involved in the robbery.
