Work To begin this Month on New 1.8 Million Euro Renal Dialysis Unit at Mayo General Hospital

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has announced that work will begin this month on a new Renal Dialysis Unit at a at Mayo General Hospital at a cost of €1.8 million. This permanent unit will have the capacity to meet the needs of all County Mayo patients currently requiring dialysis. The unit will also meet the expected demand for dialysis in the County over the medium term.
The Taoiseach says it’s excellent news for the people of Mayo and demonstrates the Government's continued commitment to their health and wellbeing. This new unit will be state of the art and will go a long way in terms of facilitating the treatment of the county's dialysis patients”.
The Mayor of Castlebar Councillor Brendan Heneghan says the infrastructural work on the temporary Renal Dialysis Unit in St Mary’s HQ has now been completed and the unit is being snagged at present. Dialysis patients will soon be relocated to the temporary unit with work commencing on the permanent unit by the end of November. The permanent unit should then be completed in six months.
