At yesterday’s monthly meeting of Mayo county council congratulations were extended to Midwest Radio’s Sport Editor Angelina Nugent on her recent success in the PPI National Radio Awards.

Angelina took a national award for a sports programme that she produced on the build up and coverage of a world title boxing title by Erris man Henry Coyle.

Councillor Henry Kenny complimented Midwest Radio’s coverage of local sport generally.

Charlie Lambert of Mayo sports partnership who made a presentation to councillors yesterday on the work of Mayo Sports Partnership congratulated all the local media on their coverage of sport and said it was through the media that people are made aware of the sporting events in their communities.
