The town of Westport took another National Title on Saturday night in Limerick, when it was awarded the National award for Past Winners in Pride of Place Competition.

Pride of Place is an all-island competition that recognises improvements by local communities in creating civic pride in their area.

The competition is hosted by Co-operation Ireland under its Local Authority Programme in conjunction with the all-island Local Authority Steering Forum comprising officials from authorities in both parts of Ireland.

The Cathaoirleach of Westport Town Council councillor Ollie Gannon told Midwest news today that’s it’s another example of so many groups both voluntary and statutory working together in the town that make Westport the award winning location that it is.
