Work to Begin on Repairing Bridge in Turlough within 4 weeks

There’s welcome news for the people of Turlough, Castlebar with work to begin within 4 weeks on restoring a bridge in the village that has forced the closure of a public road for three years now.

News of the development was given to councillors at a local area meeting of Mayo county council where council officials confirmed that the road should be re-opened to traffic in less than 9 months.

Independent councillor Michael Kilcoyne told Midwest news today that the ongoing  road closure is causing major inconvenience for many residents in the area and forces additional traffic out on to the busy N5 road.

He said work on the bridge is due to be completed within 9 months and the road will then be opened again to traffic.
