Some Achill Protesters Issued with Restriction Orders by the HSE Last Night
- Details
A protest is continuing today on Achill Island at the site of the new St Coleman’s facility at Bunnacurry, despite some local people having been issued with restriction orders from the HSE last night.
The protest at the site got underway on Tuesday morning last and is in support of a local contractor who is said to be owed a substantial sum of money.
Initially, Cordil Construction was given the contract for the €5 million St Coleman’s Care Centre project in Bunacurry and most of the ground work was completed before the company went into receivership last year.
Local subcontractor Dooniver Plant Hire carried out much of the groundwork, but claims it’s still owed a substantial sum for materials and services.
The HSE re-tendered for the ground work at the St Coleman’s project, and Wills Brothers have been on site for a number of weeks.
The Hse had the restriction orders issued to a number of local protesters last night by courier service.
While those who received the restriction orders are not protesting today – the protest is continuing.
The protest is described by participants as a peaceful protest organised by the local community.
