A new cost comparison survey shows young Mayo drivers could save over €2,800 on their car insurance by shopping around.
The price comparison survey has been published today by the National Consumer Agency, and looks at eight driver profiles, across eight insurance firms.
In each case, it found that there was a very significant variation in the quotes received, with the biggest difference in quotes found for younger drivers.
The survey shows that a 20-year old male student in Ballina with a provisional licence could potentially save up to €2,728 on third-party, fire and theft cover.
The highest quote for this driver was €4,468 from Allianz, while FBD quoted €1,740.
The same male 20-year old driver with a full licence could save over €2,800 by shopping around – the highest quote for comprehensive cover was €4,016 from Allianz compared to €1,315 from FBD.
