Two men arrested following seizure of 1.4 million euro worth of cannabis plants in Swinford

Gardai across the country have discovered 4 large industrial-style cannabis grow houses today – including one in Swinford.

As part of a planned intelligence-led operation, members of the Garda National Drug Unit assisted by divisional units carried out searches at a number of industrial units.

These searches led to the discovery of four large grow houses where cannabis plants with a combined estimated street value of up to €5 million were discovered.

In Swinford, local Gardai and members of the Divisional Drugs Unit based in Ballina, supported by members of the National Drug Unit, discovered a grow house at the Swinford Business Park, and seized €1.4 million worth of cannabis plants.

Two males were arrested and are being detained at Ballina Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.
