Mayo Fianna Fail TD Dara Calleary has demanded the resignation of the Minister for Health James Reilly for what he describes as his woeful mismanagement of the health budget and for breaking his promises to patients in Mayo.

Deputy Calleary was speaking during the Fianna Fail motion of no confidence in the Health Minister earlier this week, which Mr Reilly survived and the publication of figures overnight that show waiting times for consultant appointments have almost doubled since last April.

Deputy Calleary says that frontline health services in Mayo and across the West are being cut as a direct result of Minister Reilly’s failures. He said people are furious at the way in which they have been mislead and let down by the Minister.
