- Details
The Environment Minister Phil Hogan has announced extensions for applying chemical fertilisers and spreading slurry.
Due to the poor Summer, farming organisations had called for extra time for farmers to carry out this vital work.
Minister Hogan has extended the period for applying chemical fertilisers by two weeks – the original deadline was this Saturday 15th September – that has now been extended to 30th of this month.
And the period for spreading organic manure has been extended by two weeks to the 31st October.
Mayo Fine Gael Deputy John O’Mahony says this news will come as some relief to farmers.
