Funeral today of Boyle teenager who died in weekend road collision

The funeral is taking place today of a young Co Roscommon footballer, who died in a road collision in the early hours of last Sunday morning.

17-year old Eoin Lavin from Lisserdrea, Boyle died when the car in which he was a passenger left the road and ended up partially-submerged in a ditch on the Frenchpark to Boyle road at about 1am on Sunday morning.

Eoin – who played football with Boyle GAA -  had just received his Leaving Cert results last week, and was looking forward to getting a college offer from the CAO on Monday.

His funeral Mass takes place today at 12 noon in St Joseph’s Church, Boyle, with burial afterwards in Killaraght Cemetery.
