Taoiseach's father-in-law has passed away in Dublin hospital

The death has taken place of Seán Ó Ceallaigh, the father-in-law of Taoiseach Enda Kenny.

Mr Ó Ceallaigh, who lived in Clontarf, Dublin, was originally from Kilcummin, Killarney, Co Kerry.

The 87-year old father of seven died at the Bon Secours Hospital in Glasnevin after a short illness.

His daughter Fionnuala is wife of Enda Kenny.

Mr O’Ceallaigh was a former top civil servant, and an All-Ireland footballer, winng an All-Ireland medal for his county in the 1953 final.

His remains will be removed from the Jennings Funeral Home on Oscar Traynor Road, Coolock, to St John the Baptist Church, Clontarf, at 6pm this evening.

The funeral will take place after 11am Mass tomorrow to Dardistown Cemetery.
